So I decided to try my hand at food photography. It really is its own artform, full of often strange solutions to things like getting a good photograph out of something like food. I already knew a few of their tricks, like not using the ingredients you think they are using, special paint for richer colors, different tricks that will give you the desired volume or texture.
Of course, it’s not easy to teach you all this yourself, and it is more a personal project than anything else. Expanding your horizons, I guess you could call it. With art, you don’t always get to choose where inspiration comes from, or where it takes you. In this case it was quite simple. I read an article called A Tuscany Tour is a real gastronomic adventure, and the pictures grabbed my attention more than the writing, even though the article was the main point of what I had in front of me.
Being aware of the influence simple pictures can have when taken masterfully is what got me going in this experimental direction. Let’s see where we end up!
